After winning 11 games and having the best regular season record in the NAL, the Massachusetts Pirates are ready for year two at the DCU Center.
It all began back on April 7th, 2018 a teal and navy carpet of AstroTurf lined the arena floor of the DCU Center – a sight that Worcester was excited to see as it meant only one thing: Arena Football was back in Massachusetts.
At a press conference held in November 2017 the Massachusetts Pirates announced that they would begin their initial season in April of 2018. Since then, the team and front office staff has worked in sync with the DCU Center management to prepare for a smooth upcoming second arena football season.
The people of Worcester are both excited and curious as to what will come of this contending team. The squad is comprised of veterans including many former NFL players, D1 college athletes and even a few rookies to the professional scene sprinkled in.
The first touchdown in franchise history was scored by Devonn Brown, an All-League performer who returns this year along with NAL MVP quarterback Sean Brackett.
The Pirates made the playoffs in year one and they showed Worcester and the National Arena League what winning is all about. We can’t wait to see what the season holds for the Massachusetts Pirates in 2019! We’ll see you at The Cove.
