The NCAA has awarded the Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Northeast Regional to the City of Worcester for the 2020 season. The bid to host was submitted this spring by the College of the Holy Cross, the ASM-managed DCU Center and Discover Central Massachusetts. The event, hosted by College of the Holy Cross, will take place March 27-28, 2020 and will mark the 6th time that Holy Cross has hosted the Northeast Regionals at the DCU Center, having previously hosted from 2008-2018.
The DCU Center features a state of the art ice surface that was completely replaced in the summer of 2009 and a new LED sports lighting system, used by several NHL venues, which produces lower temperatures, an advantage in maintaining ice, and a whiter light preferred for digital and high definition broadcast. During the summer of 2017, the DCU Center installed a brand new high definition scoreboard and more recently a new high-availability Wifi system was installed, both of which will enhance the fan experience and broadcast quality available for the 2020 Regional. The attached Convention Center provides space for schools and alumni to hold functions during the two-day event.
Entrance to the event through Doors 10, 11, and 12 on Foster St.
