American Young Voices® is one of the biggest, school choral concerts in the world and Worcester students are ready to sing.

Hear That? American Young Voices® Will Perform At The DCU Center Arena In June

Over 1,500 young students will join together at the DCU Center Arena this summer to share their love of music and out of this world teamwork at one of the biggest, school choral concerts in the world! SMG—a leader in worldwide entertainment and event management— has worked with American Young Voices®, to bring the educational phenomena to New England’s premier arena and convention center complex on June 5th—after a year in the making!

175 singers in total will represent the City of Worcester, with students coming from Worcester East Middle, Burncoat Middle, Norrback Avenue School, Burncoat Street Prep, and Worcester Arts Magnet School.

“The brilliant things about AYV,” Lisa Leach, the Performing Arts Liason for the participating schools begins, “is that repertoire is applicable to so many teaching situations. Some schools are rehearsing daily at this point.” AYV is said to be, both complimentary to the adolescent voice, and a fun challenge. With students excited and motivated to learn, Lisa says, “We have also used Google Classroom so students can rehearse at home.”

The night of, there will be something for everyone, with a varied mix of music ranging from traditional, newly composed, and chart-topping pop songs—some are even choreographed. In the center of it all you will find acclaimed visionary, composer and arranger of choral music, Francisco J. Núñez.

“I am so proud of our students and so grateful to the DCU [Center] for supporting this opportunity,” Leach says. “Choral singing is such an effective way to build community and helps develop a positive sense of self. This experience highlights the important work being done every day in our classrooms by teachers and students. AYV demonstrates that anyone can be a singer and take center stage. We are all very excited to participate. Our singers can’t wait!”
